‘A melody arises without a visible reason. It is up to us to reveal the supernatural mystery’. For their album The Call Within, Armenian jazz pianist Tigran Hamasyan and his trio draw on the poetry, tales and legends of the artist’s native country, but also on astrology, geometry and even cave drawings. The mystery, for its part, is revealed through his dreams and desires. The Call Within is thus an ingenious balance between the imaginary and the real world.
